Furniture Grade Pine

The last place I lived was a 3-bed apartment in West Midtown near Georgia Tech’s campus, and one thing I really loved about that place was how big the main room was as it was a space that combined the living area with the kitchen / dining area.

Although I loved the openness in this part of the apartment, it felt a bit empty… like it needed something to bridge the gap between these two distinct spaces. Room dividers felt like the wrong path because they completely separated the spaces, and a couch or chair didn’t provide quite enough separation. A large, open bookshelf, on the other hand, seemed to serve the purposes of dividing the room, but also allowing light to pass through and give off that open and spacious feeling. Once I came to that realization, all that was left was the easy part — to design and build it!

I used furniture grade pine from Suwannee Lumber Company. Hope you enjoy!
